WEEK OF DECEMBER 11 THROUGH DECEMBER 16
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
  • The Mullen Mustangs traveled to Regis High School to face the Raiders in a non-conference matchup. Mackenzie Jones, Tatum Jones, Allison Schwertner led the way for the Mustangs despite the 66-60 loss. The team will travel to Arizona this week to participate in an in-season tournament.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
  • The Mullen Mustangs hosted their annual Christmas Classic Tournament last weekend and started out strong beating Aurora Central 71-41.  Anderson Brendle and Jordan Leslie led the way with 22 and 17 points respectively.  In their next game they faced the Nighthawks of Northfield High School. Jordan Leslie put up a double double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.  The high point man, again, was Anderson Brendle with 21 points. The Mustangs grounded the Nighthawks 71-56.  In their final game on Saturday, the Mustangs took down the defending state champion Denver East Angels 78-66. Four Mustangs put up double figures en route to the victory.  Mason Bonner had a double double as he scored 12 points and ripped down 10 boards. Mullen will take on ThunderRidge on 12/21.
HOCKEY
  • This past week the Mullen Mustangs took to the ice against Pueblo County and Rampart High School.  On Monday the Mustangs blew past Pueblo County with a score of 6-1 after a 3 goal second period.  On Friday night at The Edge Ice Arena,, the Mustangs beat the Rampart Rams 11-1.  They travel to  Air Academy on Monday 12/18.
GIRLS’ SWIM & DIVE
  • So far this season, the Girls’ swim and dive team has had a handful of state qualifiers.  In the 200 Medley Relay, Lang Davison, Brigid Anderson, Sahara Zurita, and Stella Zinis have secured their spot in this thrilling team event.  For the 200 Freestyle Relay, Natalie Bradac, Sally Kohara, Lang Davison, and Stella Zinis bring speed and teamwork to this high-octane relay. To conclude the relay qualifiers, Natalie Bradac, Sally Kohara, Lang Davison, and Annie Kozlevchar join forces to qualify for the State 400 Freestyle Relay. 
  • As for the individual qualifiers, In the100 Backstroke Sahara Zurita showcased her backstroke mastery with a qualifying time of 1:06.30.  In the100 Breaststroke, Natalie Bradac demonstrated her power in the breaststroke, qualifying with a time of 1:12.32. For the 50 Freestyle, Natalie Bradac doubled down on her speed, and qualified with a blistering time of :25.75.  Finally, Natalie Bradac continued her dominance, and qualified for the 500 freestyle State race.
BOYS’ WRESTLING
  • Over the weekend, the wrestling team traveled to Reno, Nevada to compete in their Tournament of Champions.  Mullen had two wrestlers place in the meet, Dale O’Bila took 4th-place and Isaak Chavez came in 6th.
