Mustangs Rally to Beat Denver North

by: Aaron Montgomery, Athletic Intern
In the exciting season opener for the Mullen Boys’ Soccer team, the Mustangs  rallied in the second half to beat Denver North at home after trailing 3-1 after the first  period.
In the opening period, Mullen’s Ethan Muller found the back of the net early to give the Mustangs a 1-0 lead. That was it for the first half as the Denver North Vikings found the back of the net three times to take a commanding lead into the half.

Coming out in the second period, the Mustangs jumped on the attack and were  knocking on the door of the Vikings goalie.  That door finally opened when Andrew  Sedita found Liam Sapuppo who knocked in the goal to make it 3-2.  Later in the second half, Sedita himself buried a goal to tie the game up at 3-3.  Finally, Mullen’s Jaycee  Campos connects on a deep strike to give the Mustangs the go-ahead goal. The  Mustangs stampeded back to win the game 4-3.  Goalie Ethan Desmarteau shut out the Denver North Vikings in the second half.  Nothing is given, everything is earned.  The  Mustangs earned this first win of the season.
